Adviser: Jay Mann

The Adviser of SAGE serves as a representative of the College of Education and provides for a communication network between the College of Education, Office of Advancement, and the organization. The Adviser helps to develop long-term goals for the organization as well as guide the group in the correct direction so that these goals can be accomplished. The Adviser also works diligently to create opportunities for SAGE members to be in contact with College of Education Alumni.

President: Claire Fleming

Year: Sophomore

Major: Early Childhood Education with a Concentration in Math

Hometown:Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The president works closely with the Office of Advancement and the Registered Student Organization office to plan events at the university and college and of education levels. He or she also meets with the Education Alumni Association twice a semester to speak about SAGE's goals and accomplishments as well as to learn about what they are doing with their time and money for the university. The president is responsible for organizing weekly meetings to keep the other officers informed of their duties.  He or she also needs to plan the agenda and be the main presenter at bi-weekly meetings with the entire group. The president keeps in close contact with all of the individual officers as well as the rest of the members of SAGE to make sure everything in the organization runs smoothly.  This includes attending the vast majority of events that SAGE is involved in and continuously delegating responsibilities.

Major:Elementary Education with a Concentration in Math

Hometown:  Orland Park, Illinois

VP Membership tracks all member activity. S/He is also in charge of keeping track of member's hours, creating the SAGE Page, and taking minutes at meetings. Membership also creates and runs the application process, taking care of any membership issues that arise.

VP Programs: Angie Schoenbein

Major: Agriculture Education

Hometown: Tremont, Illinois 

The Vice President of Programs works diligently to organize the Student Advancement Group for Education's largest events of the year: Read-a-Thon and Library Book Drive. This position also puts a large amount of work into the Homecoming Tailgate as well as the Youth Literature Festival. Depending upon how often Youth Literature Festival will be taking place, the Vice President of Programs will work heavily with the Youth Literature Festival Committee to ensure SAGE member presence for the event. The Vice President of Programs is responsible for the biggest and largest events of the year.

VP Fundraising:  Jaimee Shearn

Major: History with a Minor in Secondary Education

Hometown: Buffalo Grove, Illinois 

The fundraising officer is the treasurer of the group. Responsibilities include organizing pizza sales, canning, and other fundraising events. Also, the fundraising officer reimburses people who need to be reimbursed, helps with the Library Book Drive, and along with the committee comes up with new ways to raise money for SAGE and Library Book Drive.

Major: Social Studies with a Minor in Secondary Education

Hometown: Hudson, Illinois 

VP Events plans all community and group social events. Their big assignment is to plan the SAGE calender at the beginning of each semester. They work closely with Programs and Fundraising to schedule events and come up with new and exciting activities for SAGE to do.

Major: Elementary Education with a Concentration in Psychology

Hometown: Antioch, Illinois 

VP Publicity most importantly plans Quad Day. Publicity continues working throughout the year by publicizing SAGE's upcoming events at the university and community levels. Publicity is in charge of chalking the quad and classrooms, creating signs and advertisements.

Major: Elementary Education with a Concentration in Math

Hometown: Mahomet, Illinois
 

The webmaster creates, maintains and updates the website. They should be knowledgeable of all SAGE events and activities. They should have a general understanding of what SAGE means and does so that they can accurately protray SAGE online. They should also be comfortable using a computer. Although much of what the webmaster does is on his/her own time they need to communicate often with the other officers to appropriately update the website.


 Volunteer Coordinator: Olivia Atherton

Major: Special Education

Hometown: Saybrook, Illinois

The volunteer coordinator works as an assistant to the executive board.  He or she is in charge of seeking out schools and programs in the Champaign-Urbana area, which are in need of tutors from SAGE.  They work closely with volunteers in the group and with members of the community in order to organize successful homework and tutoring for students.
